Yes, the Golden State Warriors finally lost. No, they are not surrendering the number one ranking in the TSN.ca NBA Power Rankings. The Warriors and San Antonio Spurs remain ahead of the field.

Rising this week, the Boston Celtics have won five of seven (with losses to the Spurs and Warriors) and move from 12 to nine, the Charlotte Hornets are heading in the right direction and are up from 16 to 13. The Houston Rockets, from 19 to 16 and Portland Trail Blazers, from 24 to19, also climb.

Falling teams include the Atlanta Hawks, down from six to 12 after three straight double-digit defeats. Memphis slides from 11 to 14 and the Utah Jazz, missing their defensive backbone, fall from 15 to 24.

The Toronto Raptors, minus two starters, settle at 10, down two spots from the last ranking.

The Warriors have finally lost, but the circumstances -- the seventh game of a seven-game road trip and coming off a double-OT game the night before -- sure makes it look like a schedule loss more than any sudden vulnerability. That said, the Warriors haven't been as effective defensively and while it's usually not a problem, it's one potential concern if we're nitpicking a 24-1 team.

Road losses at Chicago and Toronto are the only blemishes on the Spurs' record in the past 14 games and they are flying under the radar considering how great they have been this season. With lockdown D, San Antonio now has a better point differential than the out-of-this-world Warriors.

The Cavs got Iman Shumpert back and have Kyrie Irving nearing a return, much-needed upgrades for the backcourt that will allow the Cavs to cut back on SG J.R. Smith's minutes, because his 37.3% from the field isn't doing the job.

Consistency remains elusive for the Bulls, and that may continue until PG Derrick Rose gets his shot sorted out. He's shooting 36.7% from the field and 23.4% on threes, yet has way too many attempts (14.3 per game) from the field, almost as many as team leader Jimmy Butler (15.0 per game).

The Rockets offence has been getting dramatically better, but there's been little improvement on the defensive end, so that slows the climb out of their early-season hole.
