Former Winnipeg Jets head coach Claude Noel will be introduced as the next head coach of the WHL's Vancouver Giants on Monday.

Noel replaces Troy Ward, who was relieved of his duties on Wednesday.

"We're excited to have Claude join our organization," said Giants general manager Scott Bonner. "He has worked extensively with Ken Hitchcock, who is one of the best coaches in WHL history, and with Claude coming from the NHL, we know he's one of the top coaches in the world. We're confident that he can get us back on track."

The Giants are last in the Western Conference with a record of 10-18-0-0 for 20 points.

Noel was fired as head coach of the Jets in January and replaced by Paul Maurice.
