CALGARY - The Calgary Hitmen are headed to the third round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

Travis Sanheim scored at 7:45 of double overtime as the Hitmen edged the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3 in Game 5 Friday night to win their series 4-1.

Jake Virtanen had a pair of goals for Calgary in regulation, including the equalizer at 19:15 of the third period on the power play. Jake Bean added the other late in the second.

Markus Eisenschmid, Cole Sanford and Dryden Hunt found the back of the net for the Tigers.

Mack Shield made 52 saves for the Hitmen in the win while Marek Langhamer turned aside 54 shots in 87:44 for Medicine Hat.

Calgary scored once on two power-play opportunities while the Tigers failed to convert on their lone chance.

WHEAT KINGS 3 PATS 2 (OT)

BRANDON, Man. — Peter Quenneville scored the winner in overtime as the Wheat Kings edged Regina in Game 5 to win their best-of-seven second-round playoff series 4-1.

Nolan Patrick struck twice for Brandon in regulation.

Taylor Cooper and Jake Leschyshyn scored for the Pats.

WINTERHAWKS 2 SILVERTIPS 1 (OT)

PORTLAND, Ore. — Blake Heinrich scored his third goal of the post-season in overtime as the Winterhawks edged Everett in Game 4 to take a 3-1 lead in their second-round playoff matchup.

Chase De Leo opened the attack in the second for Portland.

Ben Betker had the lone goal for the Silvertips in the second. Everett hosts Game 5 on Sunday.

ROCKETS 7 ROYALS 3

KELOWNA, B.C. — Josh Morrissey had two goals and three assists as the Rockets toppled Victoria to win their second-round playoff series 4-1.

Rourke Chartier, Rodney Southam, Tyson Baillie, Cole Linaker and Leon Draisaitl supplied the rest of the offence for Kelowna.

Travis Brown, Jack Walker and Brandon Fushimi scored for the Royals. Victoria's Jared Dmytriw was ejected at 11:54 of the second period after receiving a major for boarding.
