The Edmonton Oilers signed forward Kailer Yamamoto to a two-year, $6.2 million contract avoiding arbitration, the team announced on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old played in 81 games for the Edmonton Oilers last season, where he scored 20 goals and accounted for 41 points.

Yamamoto was taken 22nd overall by the Oilers in the 2017 NHL Draft, and made his debut with the team that same year.

He set new career highs in games played, goals scored and points this past season. Yamamoto recorded seven points in 14 games for the Oilers in the 2022 playoffs, but missed the final two games of the playoff run with a concussion.

He played the 2021-22 season under a one-year, $1.175 million contract. The Spokane, Wash., native has 40 goals and 93 points in 186 career NHL games.
