Leon Draisaitl continued his torrid scoring pace, scoring his sixth goal of the series as part of a three-goal first period as the Edmonton Oilers lead the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 after the first period in Game 5.

Draisaitl now has six goals and 10 points through four games and one period in the series. Evander Kane and Brett Kulak also scored for the Oilers.

Kane opened the scoring at 8:08, snapping a shot past Joonas Korpisalo in the dying seconds of the Oiler’s first power play of the game. Darnell Nurse and Mattias Ekholm assisted on the goal.

Draisaitl added to the Oilers lead just over two minutes later as he found himself alone in front of the net and fired a feed from Connor McDavid past Korpisalo.

Kulak restored the two-goal advantage shortly after Alex Iafallo cut the lead two 2-1, taking a cross-crease pass from Warren Foegele and putting it past the outstretched leg of Korpisalo.

Adrian Kempe once again cut the deficit to just one goal as he drove to the net and put the puck over the right shoulder of Stuart Skinner for his fourth of the series. He now has points in every game of the series.

The Oilers are looking to avoid going down 3-2 to the Kings in the first round for the second consecutive season.
