Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane became England's all-time leading goal scorer with 54 on Thursday in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy in Napoli.

Kane, 29, scored a 44th-minute penalty, beating Gianluigi Donnarumma, following a handball from Napoli defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo to make the score 2-0.

The Walthamstow native broke the record previously held by Wayne Rooney.

Kane's record goal came in his 81st appearance for the Three Lions.

The Spurs academy product has played in two Euros and two World Cups for England.

Euro 2024 is set to kick off on June 14, 2024 in Germany.

England finished as runners up to the Azzurri at Euro 2020, losing the final on penalties.
