Ice Chips: Penguins place White on waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins placed centre Colin White on waivers on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old has no points in 11 games this season in Pittsburgh. White has posted five goals and 10 points in 21 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

White was originally drafted 21st overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 2015 NHL Draft. He has 44 goals and 113 points in 303 career NHL games.

Zach Sanford, who was waived by the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday cleared waivers.

Defenceman Jacob MacDonald also cleared after being waived by the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. 

Montreal Canadiens

Head coach Martin St. Louis confirmed that forward Jesse Ylönen and defenceman Jordan Harris will return to the Candiens' lineup tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Michael Pezzetta and Johnathan Kovacevic will be healthy scratches.

Sam Montembeault will get the start. 

Ylönen, 24, has three goals and four assists in 43 games this season.

Harris, 23, has one goal and five assists in 31 games this season.

Edmonton Oilers

Ryan McLeod remains on a line with Leon Draisaitl and EVander Kane at Oilers practice on Wednesday, while forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins did not participate due to an illness. He is questionable to play tonight. 

Warren Foegele practiced on a line with Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Leafs defenceman William Lagesson was on the ice for Wednesday's morning skate after missing Monday's game with an upper-body injury.

New York Rangers

The Rangers have signed forward Jonny Brodzinski to a two-year deal that carries an AAV of $787,500.

The 30-year-old has four goals and 11 assists in 37 games this season.  

Washington Capitals

The Capitals have called up forward Pierrick Dubé from the Hershey Bears of the AHL following the upper-body injury sustained by Nic Dowd on Tuesday.

Dubé has 24 goals and 34 points in 50 games with Hershey this season.

The 23-year-old was signed to a two-year, $1.9 million deal as an undrafted free agent this past summer.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils have assigned goaltender Akira Schmid to the AHL's Utica Comets and recalled G Isaac Poulter, the team announced.

Poulter has played 24 games with Utica this season, posting a .908 save percentage with a 14-7-1 record.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Penguins forward Noel Acciari was a full-contact participant in Wednesday's practice and could be available for tomorrow's game against the Canadiens.

Acciari (concussion) has not played since Feb. 6 against the Winnipeg Jets. He has three goals and one assist in 39 games this season.
