The NHL Players’ Association unveiled its 2022-23 NHLPA Player Poll results on Wednesday, with Edmonton Oilers forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl among the players earning high respect from their peers.

This marks the eighth edition of the poll that anonymously surveys players from each of the 32 teams during the first three months of the season and covers 14 topics. The NHLPA said 626 players took part in the poll.

The players were asked to pick the most complete player, top defenceman, the most impactful forward in a must-win game, which goalie they would pick to win one game, which player they least enjoy facing but would like to have on their team, which female hockey player (current or past) they most want to play alongside and more.

The majority of players polled (59.3 per cent) said McDavid was their choice for the most impactful player in a must-win game, while Draisaitl is considered the best passer at 25 per cent.

McDavid leads the NHL scoring race by a wide margin with 136 points, followed by Draisaitl at 106.

Sidney Crosby was considered the most complete player with 30.1 per cent of the votes in that category. Crosby has 29 goals and 54 assists in 70 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins so far this season.
