The Pittsburgh Penguins have engaged goaltender Tristan Jarry about a contract extension, general manager Ron Hextall told reporters on Friday.

He is entering the final season of a three-year, $10.5 million deal he signed with the team in October of 2020. He is owed $3.5 million in 2022-23.

Jarry, 27, was sixth in the NHL in save percentage (.919) and goals-against average (2.42) last season and had a 34-28-6 record.

The 6-foot-2 goaltender only appeared in one playoff game last season due to a foot injury that sidelined him for the final 12 games of the regular season and the first three games of the postseason.

Jarry was selected 44th overall by the Penguins in the 2013 NHL Draft and has a 93-47-13 career record with a .915 save percentage and 2.57 goals-against average.
