Eugenie Bouchard has made Canadian tennis history, again.

The 20-year-old native of Westmount, Quebec improved her WTA ranking to No. 5 on Monday, making her the first Canadian singles player to ever be ranked in the top five.

Bouchard improved her ranking despite withdrawing in the second round of the Generali Ladies Linz event earlier this month with a leg injury.

Bouchard is currently at the WTA Finals in a Singapore, where she lost her opening match of the tournament against French Open runner-up Simona Halep on Monday.

Earlier this year at Wimbledon, Bouchard became the first Canadian singles player to reach the finals at a Grand Slam tournament.
