Canada’s national junior team kicked off the World Junior Summer Showcase with a 2-1 overtime loss to defending world junior champion Finland on Wednesday.

Arttu Ruotsalainen scored the game-winner 1:22 into the extra frame.

Eeli Tolvanen also scored for Finland, while Philadelphia Flyers prospect Travis Konecny netted Canada's lone goal.

Canadian netminders Evan Cormier and Connor Ingram split duties in the game and faced 35 shots combined. Finnish netminder Veini Vehvilainen saw 20 shots.

In other Summer Showcase action Wednesday, USA came from three goals down to beat Sweden 4-3, with Logan Brown netting the winner.
