MONTREAL - There is no rival for Paris St. Germain and their French soccer supremacy.

Serge Aurier and Edinson Cavani scored in the first half as PSG reiterated its dominance with a 2-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais in the Trophee des Champions on Saturday afternoon.

"There a lot to be satisfied about," said coach Laurent Blanc. "I think we could have scored a lot more. It was a good afternoon for us."

It was a second straight victory for PSG in the Trophee, a supercup that pits the Ligue 1 champion against the French Cup winner. PSG swept both last season and Lyon got in as the Ligue 1 second-place team.

Lyon, which finished eight points back in 2014-15, was felt to have the best chance to challenge PSG this season, but they were outclassed on the field and never threatened goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

Saputo Stadium was jammed with 20,057 fans, including a large, vocal PSG contingent, for a match showcasing international stars like Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

PSG, a big-spending club that begins a quest for a fourth straight Ligue 1 title on Friday, controlled the play and had a two-goal lead inside 17 minutes.

A free kick from distance was pushed to the right side, where defender David Luiz drilled a pass across the front of the goal that Aurier headed past Anthony Lopes in the 11th minute.

Six minutes later, PSG star Ibrahimovic had a point blank shot stopped but Cavani blasted in the rebound.

Lyon's best chance came off a Jordan Ferri corner kick in the 33rd, which saw Yassine Benzia shoot just over the bar from the edge of the area.

Any hope of Lyon comeback ended when captain Maxime Gonalons was sent off with a second yellow card in the 64th minute for a trip on Ibrahimovic.

Les Gones (the kids), as Lyon are nicknamed, have had a dreadful pre-season, including a 6-0 spanking at the hand of Premier League side Arsenal.

Coach Hubert Fournier was seething at the poor effort and attitude from his squad, who had one win and five defeats in pre-season play.

"It's alarming, but their team is better than ours right now," he said. "There's too big of a gap between the Paris team and this team to have any hope to win a trophy.

"We've got a lot of work to do to rival Paris this season."

Aurier, a defender, was deservedly named man of the match for a strong game at both ends, but the crowd had its eyes on the rangy Ibrahimovic, who did everything but score.

A clever back-heeled volley in the 41st minute needed a brilliant save from Lopes, and he shot wide on two glittering chances in the second half.

Lyon was France's dominant team in the early 2000s, winning seven straight Ligue 1 titles from 2002 to 2008, but PSG has taken over in recent years by buying up top talent from around the world.

PSG picked up the 27th title in its history, including five league championships and nine French Cup titles. It was their fourth Trophee des Champions after wins in 1996, 1999 and 2014. PSG now holds all four of the country's soccer titles for 2015: Ligue 1, the French Cup, the League Cup and the Trophee des Champions.

It was the second time the Trophee des Champions was held in Montreal. In 2009, Bordeaux downed Guingamp 2-0 before more than 34,000 at Olympic Stadium. Blanc coached Bordeaux at the time.

"I'd gladly come back," said Blanc. "It's my second time here and I'm 2-0."
