The team has scheduled a press conference for 3:30pm et.

“A major job of ownership is to find the right people to run the basketball side,” Celtics managing partner Wyc Grousbeck said in a statement to the club's website. “We believe we have found them in Danny and Brad.Once you find your people, you need to support them in their efforts and create a work environment that enables them and the team to succeed. If all of that is in place, the topic of extending contracts becomes an easy one, because everybody wants to keep moving forward together.”

An All-Star and a two-time NBA Champion with the Celtics as a player, Ainge has served as an executive with the Celtics since 2003. He was named the NBA Executive of the Year in 2008, the year the team won its first NBA Title since 1986. Ainge's teams have missed the playoffs only three times during his tenure.

Stevens just finished up his third campaign with the club after coming over from Butler where he twice led the Bulldogs to the NCAA Championship game in five years. Under the 39-year-old Stevens, the Celtics have made the playoffs twice in his three years. The team finished 48-34 this season and in second in the Atlantic Division. The Celtics were swept in four games by the Eastern Conference Champion-Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the playoffs.

The Ringer's Bill Simmons reports that Stevens' extension is until 2022.
