HERSHEY, Pa. - Ray Emery's professional tryout with the Toronto Marlies is off to a solid start.

Emery made 23 saves in his debut and T.J. Brennan struck twice as the Marlies downed the Hershey Bears 6-2 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.

Mark Arcobello had a goal and two assists for the Marlies (23-5-2), who also got goals from Brendan Leipsic, Zach Hyman and Stuart Percy.

Aaron Ness and Carter Camper supplied the offence for the Bears (14-8-6).

Dan Ellis started in net for Hershey and allowed four goals on 15 shots before giving way to Justin Peters, who stopped 10-of-12 shots in 30:29 of relief.

The 33-year-old Emery played three games earlier in the season with the Ontario Reign — the Los Angeles Kings' AHL affiliate — going 1-1-1 with a 3.30 goals-against average and .878 save percentage before signing a professional tryout contract with Toronto on Friday.

His last AHL start was on Nov. 21 — a 31-save outing in a 7-6 win over the Texas Stars. He last appeared in the NHL during the 2014-15 season with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Emery is the sixth goaltender this season to earn a victory for the Marlies. Jonathan Bernier, Antoine Bibeau, Garret Sparks, Rob Madore and Ryan Massa are the other five goalies to pick up a win.

Toronto went 2 for 7 on the power play while Hershey failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.
