Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw missed Game 6 Saturday night against the New York Rangers with a concussion, the team revealed on Monday during their locker clean out.

The injury appeared to occur in Game 5 at the Bell Centre when Shaw was hit into the boards by Rangers defenceman Dan Girardi.

Shaw scored 12 goals and added 17 assists with 110 penalty minutes over 68 games with the Habs in 2016-17, his first season in Montreal. He was unable to record a point in five playoff games against the Rangers.

The 25-year-old signed a six-year, $23.4 million contract with the Canadiens in late June after the team acquired him from the Chicago Blackhawks at the NHL Draft.

New York beat Montreal 3-1 in Game 6 to take the series.
