Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed defensive back Jalil Carter on Tuesday. The Akron product was released by the Minnesota Vikings last month.

Carter has played the last three seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, averaging 48 tackles and three sacks the last two years. Carter rejoins current Tiger-Cats defensive coodinator Orlondo Steinauer, who held the same position with the Argonauts. 

"Jalil Carter is a proven player in this league and is a great addition to our secondary," said Tiger-Cats Vice-President of Football Operations, General Manager and Head Coach, Kent Austin.

Offensive lineman Mike Filer was signed to a three-year extension on Tuesday. The Mount Allison University alumnus was selected in the fifth round, 31st overall, in the 2012 CFL draft by the Calgary Stampeders. He was signed by Hamilton on Aug. 12, 2012 after being released by Calgary.

Added running back Joe Hill and defensive lineman Chase Vaughn to the practice roster.
