A.J. Hawk is retiring with the Green Bay Packers.

The veteran linebacker played nine seasons for the Packers before joining the Cincinnati Bengals for a season and playing one game for the Atlanta Falcons last season.

Hawk hasn’t played since being released by the Falcons in October.

"The first thing that needs to be said about A.J. Hawk is that he is a good man," Packers general manager Ted Thompson said in a team statement. "He was a terrific teammate and a true professional during his career, and we were lucky to have him. A.J. will always be a Packer. We wish the best to him and the entire Hawk family, and thank them for all that they gave to the team and the city of Green Bay."

Hawk is the Packers all-time leader in tackles with 1,118.

TheMMQB.com was the first to report Hawk planned on retiring, earlier this offseason.
