ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Rob Hellyer scored seven points -- including a hat trick -- for the Toronto Rock as they opened their National Lacrosse League season with a 13-12 win over the Rochester Knighthawks Saturday night. Kasey Beirnes and Stephan Leblanc also had hat tricks for Toronto (1-0), with Beirnes netting the winner. Brock Sorensen, Brett Hickey, Damon Edwards and Scott Johnston also chipped in. Josh Sanderson added seven assists.

Cory Vitarelli scored three times for the Knighthawks (0-1) with Dan Dawson, Cody Jamieson and Craig Point each adding a pair. Joe Walters, Aaron Wilson and Jordan Hall rounded out the attack.

Brandon Miller got the win for the Rock, making 27 saves. Matt Vinc turned away 35 shots in defeat.

Toronto went 5 for 8 on the power play while Rochester scored three times on five opportunities.
