IceCaps still searching for first win of season following loss to Devils

ALBANY, N.Y. — Ben Thomson scored the winner and Scott Wedgewood stopped 20 shots as the Albany Devils beat the St. John's IceCaps 5-2 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.
John Quenneville and Kevin Rooney, shorthanded, opened the scoring for the Devils (2-0-0) with Blake Pietila adding insurance in the third and Max Novak scoring an empty netter.
Chris Terry had both goals for St. John's (0-2-0), the affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. Bryan Pitton turned away 15-of-19 shots in net.
Albany was scoreless on three power plays while the IceCaps were 1 for 3.
