The Toronto Blue Jays optioned reliever Ryan Tepera to Triple-A Buffalo Tuesday, making room for new acquisition Melvin Upton Jr.

The 28-year-old Tepera has split the year between Toronto and Buffalo, and has a 5.79 earned run average in five appearances with the Jays this season.
