ASAHIKAWA, Japan - Zan Kosir of Slovenia won the World Cup parallel giant slalom snowboard event on Saturday to move into first place in the overall standings.

Kosir edged Patrick Bussler of Germany in the final by 0.42 seconds, while Stanislav Detkov of Russia beat Italian Christoph Mick to finish third.

Kosir's first victory of the season gave him 3,000 points in parallel slalom standings, 861 points ahead of Russian Vic Wild.

Julia Dujmovits of Austria beat Julie Zogg of Switzerland by 0.43 seconds to take the women's title. Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic was third after beating Claudia Riegler of Austria.

Local favourite Tomoka Takeuchi was fifth while overall leader Marion Kreiner of Austria was sixth.

The next round of the World Cup circuit is on Sunday at the same venue.
