ALBANY, N.Y. - Special teams will be getting some extra work at Toronto Marlies practice.

Albany scored twice shorthanded and the winner on the power play en route to a 3-2 overtime victory on Sunday in Game 3 of their American Hockey League second-round series against Toronto.

The Devils lead the best-of-seven set 2-1 and host Game 4 on Tuesday.

The Marlies led 2-1 late in the third period and looked to have the win sealed when Albany's Tom Sislo took a slashing penalty at 18:34. But Devils coach Rick Kowalsky pulled goaltender Scott Wedgewood to put it back to 5-on-5 and Nick Lappin tied the game at 19:39.

Lappin, who finished with a game-high 11 shots on net, then beat Antoine Bibeau at 18:40 of the extra period as Connor Carrick was serving a kneeing minor.

Rod Pelley gave Albany a 1-0 lead at 8:33 of the first period while teammate Brian O'Neill was in the box for high-sticking.

Josh Leivo and William Nylander responded in the second period for the Marlies, who finished the game 0 for 8 on the power play. The Devils went 1 for 5 with the man advantage.

Leivo's goal was his first of the post-season and Nylander's was his second of the playoffs.

Wedgewood finished with 25 saves while Bibeau kicked out 36-of-39 shots.

Maple Leafs prospect Andreas Johnson, who joined the Marlies on May 2 after his season with Frolunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League, made his North American on a line with Nylander and Zach Hyman. The 21-year-old seventh-round pick from 2013 had two shots on goal.

Stuart Percy was cross-checked from behind into the boards by Albany forward Joseph Blandisi in overtime and lied on the ice for some time before eventually skating off on his own. Percy didn't return and there was no penalty on the play.
