TORONTO - T.J. Brennan and Zach Hyman both scored twice as the Toronto Marlies evened their American Hockey League second-round series against the Albany Devils at a game apiece with a 5-3 victory on Friday.

Ben Smith also scored for the Marlies, who got a solid performance out of goaltender Antoine Bibeau. The Victoriaviile, Que., native turned away 40-of-43 shots, including three different breakaways that could have changed the outcome of the game.

Bibeau stopped Reid Boucher on a short-handed breakaway with 2:28 to play in the first period to keep it 2-1 Albany. He then stopped Nick Lappin in alone just over a minute into the second while it was still a one-goal game. Bibeau got the best of Lappin again in the third when it was 3-3 and shortly after Brennan scored the eventual winner.

Marlies defenceman Connor Carrick chipped in with two assists and is the leading scorer in the post-season with 10 points in five games.

William Nylander and Nikita Soshnikov returned to the lineup for Toronto after missing Game 1. Nylander replaced Colin Smith while Soshnikov took the spot of Tobias Lindberg, who left Game 1 with an upper-body injury.

Dan Kelly, Lappin and Matt Lorito were the Devils skaters to beat Bibeau. Scott Wedgewood made 27 saves for Albany.

Toronto went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Devils failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Albany hosts next three games of the best-of-seven series. Game 3 is Sunday.
