Erie Otters centre Connor McDavid was in Toronto Tuesday to visit a hand specialist.

The top 2015 NHL Draft prospect went in to get a look at the healing process, following the same procedure he had in the previous week's visit. Doctors removed McDavid's cast to do some imaging before replacing the cast.

McDavid broke his hand in a fight with the Mississauga Steelheads' Bryson Cianfrone on Nov. 11 and is expected to miss five-to-six weeks with the injury.

The 17-year-old is headed back to Erie to continue rehabbing the injury and working out.

McDavid was expected to be a key component to Canada's World Junior Hockey Championship squad, but now faces a race against the clock to be ready for the tournament. Hockey Canada is expected to announce its training camp roster on Dec. 1 with camp itself starting Dec. 11. Canada's first pre-competition game is scheduled for Dec. 19 against Russia at Toronto's Air Canada Centre.

He was a member of the 2014 World Junior squad that finished fourth in Malmo, Sweden.
