The MLB free agency period is underway. Teams and players alike are looking to make big splashes during the off-season.

Still Talking

The Winter Meeting are over, but that hasn't stopped Toronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins and Jose Bautista's agent Jay Alou from remaining in contract. According to MLB.com's Jon Morosi, the two sides are still talking and a reunion is not out of the question.

Many thought Bautista's time in Toronto was done following the 2016 campaign, but with their being an apparent lack of interest for the 36-year-old outfielder, Bautista could find himself back with the Jays in 2017. If Toronto re-signs the slugger, they would not receive the first-round compensation pick.

Bautista hit .234 with 22 home runs and 69 RBIs over 116 games in 2016, his ninth with the team.

Dodger Deals

After reportedly agreeing to sign closer Kenley Jansen, the Dodgers appear close to bringing back third basemen Justin Turner as well.

Morosi is reporting the Turner deal is expected to be a four-year contract.

ESPN's Buster Olney also says the Dodgers are confident they can lock up their right-handed hitting third basemen. Turner, 32, had the best season of his career in 2016, hitting .275 with 27 homers and 90 RBIs over 151 games.

If not Turner, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal says Todd FrazierYangervis Solarte and Mike Moustakas are available on the trade market.

After Howie Kendrick was sent off to the Philadelphia Phillies in November, Los Angeles needs to find a second basemen as well this winter. Brian DozierLogan Forsythe and Ian Kinsler could be acquired via trade, according to Rosenthal. It might be tough to get Kinsler however as he has Los Angeles on his no-trade list.

Who To Trade?

Rosenthal says the New York Mets will likely have to trade either Curtis Granderson or Jay Bruce at some point in order to clear some money to add a reliever.

Either outfielder could fit with the Blue Jays according to Rosenthal.

Granderson, 35, hit .237 with 30 home runs and 59 RBIs over 150 games with the Mets in 2016,  his seventh with the club. He also had an on-base percentage of .335 and a slugging percentage of .464.

The 29-year-old Bruce, who has been rumoured to be headed to the Jays for over a year now, hit .250 with 33 home runs and 99 RBIs over 147 games with the Mets and Reds in 2016.

Both have a year left on their current contracts.

Eyeing Wilson

The World Series champion Chicago Cubs are showing interest in Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Justin Wilson, according to Morosi.

The 29-year-old pitched 58.2 innings, posting a 4-5 record with a 4.14 ERA in a relief role with the Tigers in 2016.

Come On Carter

The Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles are in the market for free-agent first baseman Chris Carter, according to Morosi.

The 29-year-old smacked 41 homers with 94 RBIs in 2016, his one and only year with the Brewers. He also posted a .222 batting average and a .321 on-base percentage.
