NAPLES, Italy - Gonzalo Higuain scored deep into injury time to send holder Napoli through to the Italian Cup semifinal with a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan on Wednesday, as Roberto Mancini's side's miserable year continued.

Just as the match looked set to be heading for extra time, Higuain pounced in the fourth minute of stoppage time, capitalizing on a slip from Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia which eventually saw him curl into the far corner.

It was a third successive defeat for Inter, which has won just one of its five league matches since the start of the year.

"I honestly don't know what to say, I can't even remember the last time I lost two or three games in a row, it must have been 10 years ago," Mancini said.

"You need to score goals and not concede. Instead we give away goals every time. It's foolish to lose like this. We play well but we are fools, we are too soft in these things. Conceding a goal like this is absurd, unbelievable... Going out like this is hard."

Higuain has now netted eight goals in as many matches since breaking a month-long scoring drought in the Italian Super Cup in December.

Inter had gone closest when a Mauro Icardi snapshot hit the left upright in the 13 minute.

Napoli faces Lazio in a two-legged semifinal as it bids to reach the final at the Stadio Olimpico for the second successive year.
