ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Matt Gillard had back-to-back goals early in the second period as the Niagara IceDogs scored seven unanswered goals in a 7-2 rout of the Mississauga Steelheads on Tuesday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Jordan Maletta scored twice — both on the power play — and added an assist as Niagara (17-21-2) won for the fifth straight time. Brendan Perlini, Cody Payne and Christopher Paquette rounded out the attack for the IceDogs, while Brandon Hope made 22 saves for the win.

Sean Day and Josh Burnside built a 2-0 lead for Mississauga (18-20-3). Jacob Brennan stopped 38 shots in net.

Niagara went 3 for 4 on the power play, while the Steelheads were 0 for 2.
