It was the injury update Saskatchewan Roughriders fans wanted to hear.

Roughriders head coach Corey Chamblin said Friday during the team’s Florida mini-camp quarterback Darian Durant is past the rehab stage.

“Darian’s going to be pretty heavy on reps,” Chamblin said. “It’s not going to be guarded unless there’s fatigue for some other reason. He’s past the rehab state for me.”

Chamblin added that he didn’t feel it was necessary to check in on his health after practice and only asked how the veteran quarterback was with the new coaching and new system.

Videos taken by Saskatchewan radio stations 620 CKRM and 980 CJME show Durant throwing in individual drills and reports on Saturday suggested he looked like his old self.

Durant suffered a season-ending elbow injury in early September last year. Updates on the 32-year-old’s status have been scarce throughout the off-season until this weekend’s mini-camp.
