SYDNEY, N.S. - Evgeny Svechnikov couldn't be stopped on Friday night.

The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles winger scored twice and added two assists to lead his team past the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 6-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Anthony Sorrentino, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Alexandre Gosselin and Colby Tower rounded out the Cape Breton (2-2-1) attack, which scored five times in the second period.

Egor Popov, Campbell Pickard and Jeffrey Truchon-Viel had goals for the Titan (1-3-1). Mark Simpson assisted on all three goals.

Kyle Jessiman made 19 saves for the win while Daniel Vautour turned aside 36 shots for Acadie-Bathurst.

The Screaming Eagles went 1 for 4 on the power play while the Titan scored once on three chances.

HALIFAX — Manuel Wiederer struck twice as Moncton topped the Mooseheads.

Stephen Johnson and Liam Murphy also chipped in for the Wildcats (4-1-0).

Cavan Fitzgerald opened the scoring in the first period for Halifax (1-3-1).

CHARLOTTETOWN — Luke Green scored his first of the season at 11:38 of the third period and it proved to be the winner as Saint John handed the Islanders their first loss of the season.

Daniel Del Paggio and Mathieu Joseph added the others for the Sea Dogs (3-2-0).

Oliver Cooper and Shawn Boudrias, on the power play, found the back of the net for Charlottetown (4-1-0).

GATINEAU, Que. — Yan Pavel Laplante had a hat trick as the Olympiques remained undefeated by routing Baie-Comeau.

Alex Dostie added a goal and three assists while Vitalii Abramov had a goal and two assists for Gatineau (5-0-0). Dylan Callaghan and Anthony Gagnon supplied the rest of the offence with Alexandre Carrier tacking on four assists.

Yan Aucoin scored for the Drakkar (0-4-0) in the third period.

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Andrew Picco scored the winner in the 17th round of the shootout as the Oceanic slipped past Val-d'Or.

Anthony Chapados, Matous Belohorsky, Antoine Dufort-Plante and Hunter Moreau had goals in regulation for Rimouski (3-1-0).

Alexis Pepin struck twice for the Foreurs (3-1-1). Anthony Beauregard had a goal and two assists while Anthony Richard also chipped in.

Michael Joly of the Oceanic received a major penalty and game misconduct for checking to the head at 5:38 of the first period.
