SHAWINIGAN, Que. - Dennis Yan scored a hat trick and added two assists to lead the Shawinigan Cataractes past the Val-d'Or Foreurs 5-2 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Yan found the back of the net at 5:41 of the second period for his first of the game. He added two more within just over two minutes to go in the third for the Cataractes (9-2-0).

Anthony Beauvillier and Samuel Girard added the others for Shawinigan, which won its third straight. Mikhail Denisov kicked out 23 shots in net.

Anthony Richard and Nicolas Aube-Kubel scored for the Foreurs (6-4-1), with Etienne Montpetit turning away 20 shots in goal.

The Cataractes scored once on five power plays while Val-d'Or went scoreless on three chances.

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Samuel Montembeault stopped all 28 shots he faced as Blainville-Boisbriand blanked Saint John.

Guillaume Bergeron-Charron had a pair of goals while Joel Teasdale added a goal and two assists for the Armada (5-3-2). Nathanael Halbert, Alexandre Delisle-Houde and Philippe Sanche had the others.

Alex Bishop turned aside 32 shots in goal for the Sea Dogs (6-4-0).

Saint John defenceman Luke Green was ejected at 13:18 of the second period after receiving a major penalty for checking to the head.

CHARLOTTETOWN — Maxime Comtois and Jacob Lapierre both struck twice as Victoriaville toppled the Islanders.

Bradley Lalonde, Anthony Gingras and Carl Marois supplied the rest of the offence for the Tigres (6-5-1), who won their fourth in a row.

Carl Gervais, Mitchell Balmas, Filip Chlapik and Luc Deschenes scored for Charlottetown (5-5-1), which dropped its fourth straight.

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau and Frederic Allard both had a pair of goals and added an assist as the Sagueneens won their first of the season by doubling up Moncton.

Garrett Johnston and Nicolas Roy rounded out the attack for Chicoutimi (1-8-1).

Stephen Johnson, Manuel Wiederer and Zachary Malatesta had goals for the Wildcats (7-4-0).

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Vaclav Karabacek and Matt Jones both had a goal and an assist as the Drakkar held on to beat Cape Breton.

Raphael Santerre scored late in the third period for Baie-Comeau (2-8-0) to add insurance.

Loik Leveille found the back of the net on the power play at 17:09 of the third for the Screaming Eagles (5-4-2). Maxim Lazarev followed suit at 19:10 of the third, but Cape Breton couldn't find the equalizer.

GATINEAU, Que. — Vitalii Abramov had the winner in the third period as Olympiques topped Rimouski.

Yan Pavel Laplante and Yakov Trenin also chipped in for Gatineau (7-2-1).

Michael Joly scored his first two goals of the season, including one on the power play, for the Oceanic (7-2-0).

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. — Michael Carcone had a hat trick and added a goal in the shootout as the Voltigeurs edged Rouyn-Noranda.

Kristian Afanasyev sealed the victory for Drummondville (9-2-0) with a goal in the third round of the shootout.

Philippe Myers, Charles-Olivier Ouimet and Francis Perron scored in regulation for the Huskies (8-1-3).
