DETROIT - A person with knowledge of the deal says Joel Anthony has agreed to a two-year, $5 million contract to stay with the Detroit Pistons.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Thursday because no announcement has been made.

The 6-foot-9 Anthony played 49 games last season for Detroit, averaging 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds. He hasn't been a regular starter since the 2011-12 season. But Anthony, who turns 33 next month, can provide size off the bench for the Pistons.

Detroit acquired him in a trade before last season.
