Fred Jackson's time with the Buffalo Bills is over.

The Bills released the veteran running back among 11 other cuts on Monday.

Jackson, who was due $2.35 million this season, rushed fror 525 yards and touchdowns in 14 games last season. He added 66 receptions for 501 yards and a touchdown.

The 34-year-old has spent his entire career with the Bills since joining the team as an undrafted player in 2006.

“Today, we had to make the difficult decision to release Fred Jackson," Bills general manager Doug Whaley said in a statement. "He had an incredible career for this organization for the past 10 years. We thank Fred for his hard work, dedication and leadership during his tenure with the Buffalo Bills. Fred has inspired the city of Buffalo in a number of ways. Fred and his family have been dedicated to this community and we can’t thank them enough for their contributions through his career.”

The Bills acquired LeSean McCoy from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason to take the lead back role. Boobie Dixon, Karlos Williams and Byrce Brown sit behind McCoy on the depth chart.

Jackson made his lone preseason appearence on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, rushing five times for 48 yards and a touchdown.

All NFL teams have to cut their rosters from 90-men to 75 by Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 4pm et.
