The Cleveland Browns will make another attempt to trade for highly sought-after New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo at the NFL owners meetings taking place this week in Phoenix, reports Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland.

Grossi cites an NFL source that is familiar with the principals that would be involved with pulling off a deal such as this one. The writer adds that the meetings would provide the Browns with ideal conditions for negotiating as the team's owner Jimmy Haslam and general manager Sashi Brown, can talk in person with Patriots owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.

Earlier in the off-season when the Browns acquired quarterback Brock Osweiler from the Houston Texans in a blockbuster trade, it was assumed that Osweiler along with the drafts picks acquired in the haul would most likely serve as bait for another potential deal the club wants to make.

Despite the Browns' perceived plans for Osweiler, leading football insider Adam Schefter of ESPN along with other prominent media members, have insisted that the Patriots will not deal Garoppolo. Still, with Cleveland parting ways with pivots Josh McCown and Robert Griffin III this off-season, it remains likely that the team will try to add a franchise-caliber signal-caller either through the upcoming draft or via trade.

Given, the lack of excitement surrounding this year's crop of incoming quarterbacks, Graoppolo without a doubt remains the best option for the Browns.
