The Arizona Cardinals are closing in on a massive extension with All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Mathieu, who turned 24 earlier this month, is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He was named a first-team All-Pro for the first time in 2015, though his season was cut short in December by a torn ACL. He finished the year with 80 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one interception in 14 games. He was also named to the Pro Bowl.

Rapoport reports Mathieu’s new deal will make him the NFL’s highest paid safety. Kansas City Chiefs star Eric Berry currently owns that title with a $10.8 million salary in 2016, under the team’s franchise tag.

Mathieu, considered a character risk in the 2013 draft, was a third round pick of the Cardinals.
