The Golden State Warriors could have star forward Kevin Durant back in the lineup ahead of the playoffs.

According to a report from ESPN’s Marc Stein, Durant has progressed well in rehab and could be back before the end of the season.

Durant was originally considered a long shot to be ready for the first round of the playoffs. The  Warriors haven’t been the same in the 12 games since Durant went down on Feb. 28 with a sprained MCL and tibial bone bruise in his left knee against the Washington Wizards, going 7-5.

Durant completed his first on-court workout before tipoff of Tuesday’s win against the Dallas Mavericks where he took jump shots. Rookie Patrick McCaw has been starting in his place, but his 3.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game is nowhere near Durant’s 25.3 and 8.2.

At the time of Durant’s injury, the Warriors said he would be out indefinitely, but maintained the possibility of a return before the end of the season. Per ESPN, Warriors coach Steve Kerr is expected to comment officially on Durant’s status at some point next week.

The Warriors are sitting at 57-14, good for first in the Western Conference. They will take on the Sacramento Kings at home on Friday.
