The Las Vegas Desert Knights? Maybe the Silver Knights? Or possibly the Golden Knights? According to a report, all three names have been trademarked by the new Las Vegas NHL ownership group and one could very well be the name of the National Hockey League's expansion team.

According to a tweet from Crain's Detroit Business sports reporter Bill Shea on Tuesday, a federal trademark search has revealed that Black Knight Sports & Entertainment LLC - led by new owner Bill Foley - has trademarked 'Las Vegas Desert Knights.'

A further trademark search by Travis Hughes, a Philadelphia Flyers beat writer at Broad Street Hockey, showed that the two other names have been trademarked as well.

Foley told The Las Vegas Review-Journal on Monday that he already has his name picked out for the NHL's 31st franchise but won't unveil it just yet.

"The name is definitely set," Foley told the paper. "But I can’t tell you exactly what it is. That's a secret."

The paper added that the team is expected to make the announcement next month with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman in attendance.

Las Vegas was awarded an expansion franchise on June 22 and has already hired George McPhee as its general manager and Kelly McCrimmon as assistant GM to prepare to begin play in the 2017-18 season.
