Monday revealed an interesting twist in the Richard Sherman trade talks.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it was Sherman that initiated the talks, and the Seattle Seahawks were obliging him at his request.

Late last month Sherman told 710 ESPN radio in Seattle that he doesn’t want to leave Seattle, but understood that trades are part of the business of football.

The 29-year-old Sherman has played his entire six-year career with the Seahawks, playing every single game during that span. For his career, Sherman has 332 tackles and 30 interceptions, and hasn’t seen his play diminish noticeably as he nears 30.

Sherman played a key role in the Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory in 2013.
