As Winter Meetings are set to begin this week, the Toronto Blue Jays are still looking to add a first baseman.

According to multiple reports, the Blue Jays are talking to Mitch Moreland and Steve Pearce.

Moreland, 30, has spent his entire career with the Texas Rangers and hit .233 with 22 home runs and 60 RBIs in 460 plate appearances last year. Moreland also won an AL Gold Glove for his defensive play last season.

MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman reports while the Jays are talking to Moreland, they haven't ruled out re-signing Edwin Encarnacion. If the Jays do strike a deal with Moreland however, that would likely close the door on an Encarnacion return.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Jays' talks with Steve Pearce have gained traction as well.

The 33-year-old Pearce split last season between the Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles, hitting .288 with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs in 264 at bats.

Moreland or Pearce, who each hit left-handed pitch well, could presumably platoon at first base with Justin Smoak.
