TORONTO -- The Toronto Rock needed a tiebreaker, but have advanced to the National Lacrosse League final for the first time since 2011.

Toronto toppled the three-time defending-champion Rochester Knighthawks 11-8 on Saturday in Game 2 of the best-of-two East Division semifinal, which forced a 10-minute mini game. The Rock then easily won the 10-minute tiebreaker 8-2 to book their spot in the league championship.

"Nobody lost belief in each other," said Rock head coach John Lovell. "At practice we talked about that a bit and again this morning at shoot around. I didn't see anybody nervous. It was a quiet determination."

Josh Sanderson and Rob Hellyer led the way for the Rock in the mini game with a pair of goals apiece, while Brett Hickey tacked on five assists. Stephan Leblanc scored once and set up two more and Colin Doyle, Kevin Crowley and Patrick Merrell each added a goal.

Joe Walters and Joe Resetaritis supplied the scoring in the tiebreaker for the Knighthawks, who took the first game of the series 10-9 last Saturday on a last-minute goal from Dan Dawson.

In Game 2, Hickey and LeBlanc each had a hat trick for Toronto as Sanderson added a goal and four helpers. Hellyer had five assists while Brock Sorensen, Rob Marshall, Doyle and Crowley added single goals to round out the attack.

Stephen Keogh paced the Rochester offence in Game 2 with six goals while Brad Self and Craig Point had the others. Dawson chipped in with four assists.

Brandon Miller earned the win for the Rock while Matt Vinc took the loss for the Knighthawks.

Toronto will face Edmonton for the Champion's Cup after the Rush downed the Calgary Roughnecks in the West Division final.
