Smith scores twice as Marlies topple Comets

UTICA, N.Y. — Ben Smith's second goal of the game broke a tie 6:30 into the third period as the Toronto Marlies snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Utica Comets on Friday in American Hockey League action.
Chris Mueller and Justin Holl also scored for Toronto (22-8-0) and Smith added an assist for a three-point night.
Joseph LaBate, Vincent Arseneau and Cole Cassels scored for the Comets (12-13-5).
Marlies goaltender Calvin Pickard stopped 24 shots. Utica's Richard Bachman made 24 saves.
Neither team scored on the power play. Toronto went 0 for 4 while the Comets were 0 for 3.
