Adrian Peterson has turned his focus from leaving Minnesota to making sure he stays in it.

In a text to ESPN's Josina Anderson Wednesday night, the Vikings running back said he is focused on 'securing' his future with the franchise, not on leaving it.

"The reason I'm not attending OTAs has nothing to do with wanting to be traded,” Peterson wrote. “It's about securing my future with the Vikings. It's business, not personal and I understand that firsthand. Go Vikings."

After the Vikings refusal to trade Peterson during the draft, it appears he has now focused his attention having the remaining three years on his contract fully guaranteed. He signed a six-year, $86 million deal prior to the 2012 season.

Peterson's comments come just hours after Vikings coach Mike Zimmer declared the running back could play for his team or not play at all.

The 30-year-old has skipped the first two days of optional workouts to date.
