The Montreal Alouettes signed international cornerback Mitchell White to a new one-year contract ahead of free agency.

"Mitchell has continued to grow while being with our team. He consistently locked down a starting position last season and offers us security at the wide side of the field. His best football is on the horizon," said Alouettes General Manager and Head Coach Jim Popp.

White amassed 31 defensive tackles in 15 games last season. The 25-year-old also knocked down two passes. In two seasons with Montreal, the former Michigan State Spartan made 61 defensive tackles and picked off one pass in 26 games.

The Alouettes starting cornerback had his most productive game of the season on August 8 against the Ottawa Redblacks, when he recorded five defensive tackles. He also registered one special teams tackle last season.
