CALGARY - Travis Sanheim scored the winner at 15:43 of the third period as the Calgary Hitmen secured the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 3-2 win over the Kootenay Ice on Sunday in Western Hockey League action.

Jordy Stallard and Kenton Helgesen also scored for the Hitmen (45-22-5), who enter the post-season on a five-game winning streak.

Sam Reinhart scored once for the Ice (37-31-4) and set up Levi Cable for another goal.

Calgary's Brendan Burke made 23 saves for the win as Wyatt Hoflin turned away 25-of-28 shots for Kootenay.

The Hitmen went 1 for 5 on the power play while the Ice failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

SILVERTIPS 5 CHIEFS 4

SPOKANE, Wash. — Everett used five different goal scorers and Austin Lotz made 29 saves as the Silvertips handed the Chiefs their fifth loss in a row.

Noah Juulsen, Patrick Bajkov, Bryaden Low, Jake Mykitiuk and Gunnar Wegleitner found the back of the net for Everett (43-20-9).

Adam Helewka had a pair of goals for Spokane (34-34-4) while Riley Whittingham and Kailer Yamamoto added the others. Tyson Verhelst kicked out 15-of-20 shots in defeat.

WINTERHAWKS 5 AMERICANS 3

PORTLAND, Ore. — League-leading scorer Oliver Bjorkstrand scored twice and tacked on an assist as the Winterhawks toppled Tri-City.

Paul Bittner, Chase De Leo and Nicolas Petan also scored for Portland (43-23-6), which got an 18-save outing from Evan Johnson.

Tyler Morrison, Richard Nejezchleb and Maxwell James supplied the offence for the Americans (31-38-3). Evan Sarthough turned away 49-of-52 shots in a losing cause.

Bjorkstrand wrapped up the regular season with 63 goals and 118 points in 59 games— nine points ahead of Medicine Hat's Trevor Cox.
