BRANDON, Man. - The Brandon Wheat Kings are off to the Western Hockey League final.

Jayce Hawryluk had two goals and two assists as the Wheat Kings routed the Calgary Hitmen 8-2 on Friday in Game 5 to win their Eastern Conference final series 4-1.

John Quenneville also had a pair of goals for Brandon, while Ryan Pilon, Eric Roy, Nolan Patrick and Tim McGauley rounded out the attack.

Pavel Karnaukhov and Adam Tambellini scored for the Hitmen.

Jordan Papirny turned away 31 shots for the win in goal. Mack Shields started in net for Calgary, but was pulled after kicking out 15-of-18 shots in 29:51. Brendan Burke made 11 saves in 28:32 of relief.

The Wheat Kings converted twice on three power-play chances. The Hitmen went 1 for 3 with the man advantage.

ROCKETS 2 WINTERHAWKS 1

KELOWNA, B.C. — Tyson Baillie scored 14:55 into overtime as the Rockets took a 3-2 series lead over Portland in their Western Conference final series.

Riley Stadel chipped in with a goal in the first for Kelowna.

Winnipeg Jets prospect Nicolas Petan tied the game at 16:27 of the third period for the Winterhawks. Portland hosts Game 6 on Sunday.
