Toronto Maple Leafs

William Nylander was back on the wing in Wednesday's practice, skating on a line with centre John Tavares and Max Domi.

Nylander had been working as a centre since the beginning of camp, with head coach Sheldon Keefe vowing to give him an extended look at the position.

David Kampf moved up to the third-line centre slot, between Bobby McMann and Ryan Reaves. Matthew Knies worked on the fourth line with Fraser Minten at centre and Calle Jarnkrok on the other wing.

Minten, 19, appears to have a shot at cracking the roster after impressing head coach Sheldon Keefe in the team's preseason game on Monday against the Montreal Canadiens.

Defenceman Mark Giordano joined the Leafs for practice in Gravenhurst, Ont. Wednesday after missing practice Monday for maintenance.

Nate Schmidt and Declan Chisholm were both skating in regular jersey and forward Nikolaj Ehlers was also at practice after previously dealing with neck spasms.

Jets head coach Rick Bowness said Ehlers could be a gametime decision for Thursday's final game of the preseason against the Ottawa Senators. That decision will be made by Ehlers based on how he feels after full participation on Wednesday.

He was acquired as part of the Canadiens return for Jeff Petry in August.
