Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann left Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings after the first period with a lower-body injury and didn't return to action.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe said after the game that they didn't have a sense yet of the severity of McMann's injury.

The 27-year-old has 15 goals and nine assists over 55 games with the Maple Leafs in 2023-24, his rookie season in the NHL.

McMann played 10 games last season, recording a single assist.

Defenceman Jake McCabe missed the third period after taking a shot to the face. Keefe said McCabe should be fine, but didn't return due to swelling around the eye.

The Maple Leafs would go on to lose in overtime, 5-4.
