Ice Chips: Leafs to start Samsonov vs. Blackhawks, Woll against Penguins

Toronto Maple Leafs

Head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed Ilya Samsonov will get the start tomorrow afternoon against the Chicago Blackhawks and Joseph Woll will get the net Saturday night in Pittsburgh. 

Nick Robertson took Calle Jarnkrok's spot on the second power play unit this morning as assistant coach Guy Boucher spent time with the group before the beginning of the Maple Leafs' main practice. 

Robertson, 22, has two goals and two assists in six appearances with the Maple Leafs this season. 

The Maple Leafs are back in action in a matinee game Friday afternoon against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ottawa Senators

Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo departed today's skate early but there is no update on his status, according to Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch.

Korpisalo did not dress in Saturday's game against the Minnesota Wild in Sweden due to an undisclosed minor injury. He last played on Thursday against the Detroit Red Wings in Sweden, stopping 37 shots as the Sens came back to beat the Red Wings 5-4 in overtime. 

The 29-year-old is 5-4-0 this season with a .906 save percentage and 3.17 goals-against average.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have waived goaltender Matt Tomkins while the Minnesota Wild placed forward Vinni Lettieri on waivers. 

Tomkins, 29, appeared in three games for the Lightning this season, going 1-2-0 with an .889 save percentage and 3.40 goals-against average. 

Lettieri has two goals in 11 games for the Wild this season.
