MADRID (AP) — Getafe defeated Cadiz 1-0 in the Spanish league despite playing most of the match with 10 men on Monday, ending its run of five consecutive draws and moving further away from the relegation zone.

Borja Mayoral scored in the 76th minute with a header from close range.

The host played a man down from the 44th after defender Djené was sent off for a second yellow card. He put a hand to the face of an opponent before a ball was crossed into the area.

Getafe hadn't won in six league matches since September. It moved to 11th place with the win against Cadiz, which stayed 16th, near the relegation zone.

Cadiz's winless streak in the league was at eight matches, also since September.

Getafe was coming off a 12-0 win over sixth-division club Tardienta in the first round of the Copa del Rey.

It next visits second-to-last Granada in the Spanish league on Saturday . Cadiz's league game against Mallorca on Sunday was postponed after Mallorca striker Vedat Muriqi was called up by Kosovo for a European qualifier against Israel on the same day. That match was rescheduled because of the war in Israel.
