With the acquisition of UFC by WME | IMG, a few celebrities have also chosen to invest in the mixed martial arts promotion.

The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) is the only Canadian on a list that includes athletes such as Cam Newton, Li Na, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Tom Brady.

“Expanding our ownership group to include this caliber of talent and entrepreneurs is a strong indicator of UFC’s fast-growing global presence,” said UFC President Dana White. “Our new investors bring an incredible depth of knowledge and experience to help us continue to elevate this brand and capitalize on its entertainment and sports crossover appeal.”

Other non-athletes joining The Weeknd in the venture are Sylvester Stallone, Anthony Kiedis, Mark Wahlberg and among others Conan O'Brien who announced jokingly on his show that he'll be facing Conor McGregor, Ronda Rousey and Sharapova in a series of fights to be held leading up to his memorial service.
