The Colorado Avalanche are set to bolster their blue line with the addition of KHL defenceman Andrei Mironov.

Mironov, 22, has spent the past five seasons with the Moscow Dynamo, but was drafted by the Avalanche in the fourth round of the 2015 draft.

He has received a verbal release from the Dynamo but need the release in writing to officially sign with the Avalanche.

The left-hand shot scored one goal and added three assists in 18 games with the Dynamo last season. He posted a career-high 13 points in 40 games during the 2015-16 season.

He is currently playing for Russia at the World Hockey Championship and is minus-1 through two games.
